Being a dendrophile/nemophilist connects me to my love for fiber arts and the link to personal symbol, a tree. My art making is always an experiment. I typically have a goal or plan in mind, but each opportunity to make and create is a lesson. What will I learn from this media, this experience, etc. I often attend conferences to build skills and learn new techniques only to go home and develop my own artistic work with different media, sizes, shapes. Many of the pieces here are my works from conference - and labeled as such. My artistic works are developed with the philosophy of slow, play based learning, that builds experience and is refined through reflection (Dewey's theory of knowledge) while respecting the artists and mentors that provided the knowledge and sharing the knowledge with my students (Philosophy of the Medicine Wheel).
There is a quote, though many argue if it was said by Picasso or Van Gogh, "I am always doing what I do not know in order to learn how to do it." This is why there is such a variety, I let my inquiry lead my creativity.

First basket made of willow - under the mentorship of Bonnie Gale.

Found while hiking - this is not frozen, but the structure of the plant, with the seeds inside waiting for the wind to carry it away.
