ARTT 3370   Art Theory and Practice for the Elementary School Teachers for Texas State University

This course challenges students to realize their creative capabilities in a learning environment where playful investigation nurtures self-confidence.  Coursework is designed to help students understand art, and the art of teaching art to children (early childhood through 6th grade). Students are challenged to explore materials, using them as tools to express thoughts and feelings.  The instructor evaluates their willingness to share ideas and their diligence to apply creative thinking to course assignments.

The lesson plans listed were created for the students to follow as an elementary teacher would to teach to students, this allowed them to review and understand a plan, experiment with the materials and skills necessary to complete the project, and create art (as an example).  Throughout the course students cataloged the provided teaching lessons, their own lessons (and examples), as well as the lessons from their class mates to make a resource binder for the future.

The idea was to take Black Out Poetry to another level, beyond a flat page.  With more thought the collage items would be more than decoration, but at the time we used found objects in the classroom.
